THE DESTINATION DECISION

Choose the trip you want, then the destinations.

A useful first decision is how you want to spend your days. The list of places comes next.

Planning guide · Information checked 2 October 2026

This guide compares the current Athens, Mykonos and Santorini coverage. It does not rank all of Greece or recommend a fixed number of nights. Start with your priorities and the time you can really use.

Write down the day you would most regret missing

Would it be a day exploring ancient sites and food, an island outing ashore, or a cruise? Pick one main experience before adding places. If your priorities are different within a group, agree which day belongs to whom instead of assuming every stop will satisfy everyone.

  • Treat arrival and departure as commitments, not automatically as full sightseeing days.
  • Keep a second choice that is useful even without booking an activity.
  • Leave some time unassigned so one delay does not consume the whole trip.

Athens: combine the city and the coast deliberately

Athens offers a broad mix: culture, food and cruises. A city-food day and a sea day work as an editorial two-day structure, but they are not a combined package. Each booking has its own meeting point, start time and terms.

Mykonos: choose between three different day formats

The current selection separates a shore excursion, a guided Delos visit and a catamaran outing. Choose the one that fits the day you have, then check transport and timing. A shore day from a cruise ship calls for a different plan from a day starting at an island accommodation.

Santorini: understand what this edition covers

The reviewed selection here is boat-focused, so it can help with a volcano outing versus a caldera or sunset cruise. It is not a comprehensive accommodation, dining or sightseeing guide to the island. Use the exact product details to decide whether the route and pickup fit your stay.

Adding a destination adds another travel day to plan

Before adding the next place, write down the actual flight or ferry options for your dates and both ends of the transfer. If you cannot yet confirm the journey, leave it as a question rather than building a timed experience around it. A simpler route with time to enjoy it can be a better fit than a longer list.

  • Check current schedules, baggage rules and disruption terms directly with the transport provider.
  • Do not treat an illustrative route as a transport ticket or a connected package.
  • Recheck seasonal availability before committing to accommodation or activities.

Planning suggestions are editorial guidance, not guaranteed schedules, connected packages or transport reservations. Check official and provider information close to travel.
